GEORGE E. NAMCHEK SUCCUMBS SATURDAY

George Earl Namchek, 79, a resident of Hibbing for nine years and of Bear River for 63 years, died Saturday in Hibbing General Hospital.

He was born in Waterville, Sept. 11, 1896, and was a self-employed farmer and logger. He was a member of the Bear River Lutheran Church.

He is survived by three sons, George of Baker, Ore., Russell of Grand Rapids and James of Greaney; three daughters, Mrs. Alden (Margaret) Hawkinson of Minneapolis, Mrs. Howard (Jeanette) Pixley and Mrs. Burton (Leona) Anderson of Bear River; 22 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, Sept. 15, 1971.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bear River Lutheran church with Pastor Jerry Hanson officiating. Interment was in the Bearville Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were James Namchek of Cook, Robert Namchek of Greaney, Russell and Donald Namchek of Grand Rapids and Robert and Ronald Pixley of Bear River.

Arrangements were by Mesaba Funeral Home of Hibbing.

MRS. MABEL
EMMALINE NAMCHEK

BEAR RIVER -- Mrs. Mabel E. Namchek, 75, a Bear River resident since 1904, died Wednesday in Hibbing General Hospital.

She was born Dec. 29, 1895 in Kensett, Ia. and later moved to Bear River where she became a long-time member of Bear River Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Namchek is survived by her husband, George, Leisure Hills Nursing Home, Hibbing, three sons, George, Baker, Ore.; Russell, Grand Rapids; James, Grearley; three daughters, Mrs. Alden (Margaret) Hawkinson, Minneapolis; Mrs. Howard (Jeannette) Pixley, Bear River; Miss Leona Namchek, Bear River; a brother, Orin Urdahl, Bear River; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Flank, Bear River; Mrs. Alice Watt, Virginia; Mrs. Oliver (Cora) Hillstrom, Lake City; 22 grandchildren; six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. today at Mesabe Funeral Chapel until 10 a.m. Saturday. Visitation will then be at Bear River Lutheran Church from noon until 2 p.m. service with Pastor Eldon Landvik officiating.

Burial will be in Bearville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Edward Pixley, Clifford Moberg, James Harris, Martin Block, Axel Engdahl, Marlin Wooster, all of Bear River.

RUSSELL R. NAMCHEK

Russell R. Namchek, 67, Grand Rapids, died Friday, Oct. 21, 1988, in St. Mary's Medical Center.

He was born and raised in Bearville Township and graduted from Alango School near Bear River. He logged and farmed for several years. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He moved to Grand Rapids in 1955 and worked for eight years as a milk truck driver. In 1963 he began working for University of Minnesota North Central Experimental Station in Grand Rapids, retiring in 1986. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids.

Surviving are his wife, Alberta; three daughters, Rebecca "Becky" Mock, Debra Loop and Mary Serfling, all of Grand Rapids; five sons, Russel G. "Russ", Donald, Bobby, Ronald and Brian, all of Grand Rapids; a brother, George of Baker, Ore.; three sisters, Margaret Hawkinson of Minneapolis, Jeanette Pixley and Leona Anderson, both of Bear River; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in First Evangelical Church. Burial was in Itasca Cemetery, Grand Rapids.

Nausley, Freeman 'Jake'

Born in Vergennes to John and Mary Rink Nausley. Married Oct. 27, 1912 at Vergennes to Gladys Doty. He died suddenly, Sunday in St. Joseph's Hospital in Murphysboro. Survivors his wife; a son, Richard; 3 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. His parents, a brother and a sister preceded him in death. Services 2 p.m. Wednesday from Faith Methodist Church in Vergennes with Rev. Charles Tindel officiating. Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Ava, after 6 p.m. Tuesday untill 11 a.m. Wednesday and after that at the church until time of the service.

Freeman Richard "Dick" Nausley

Freeman Richard "Dick" Nausley, 79, of Vergennes, Ill. died Wednesday, April 9, 1997 at 11:20 a.m. in Parkway Manor of Marion, Ill.

Mr. Nausley was born on July 27, 1917 in Vergennes to Freeman Nausley and Gladys Ann (Doty) Nausley.

He married Hazel E. Shupe on Jan. 1, 1939 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She passed away on Aug. 25, 1981.

Mr. Nausley was the retired postmaster of the U.S. Post Office in Vergennes. He was a member of DeSoto Lodge 287 A.F. & A.M. in DeSoto, Ill., as well as the Low 12 Club. He was also a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Nena Lea Pippin of Marathon, Flor., Sandra Jane Spiller of Carterville, Ill., and Rita Joan Todd of Elyria, Ohio; by two grandsons, Richard and Rob Rendleman; three granddaughters, Laurie Lea Wallace, Melanie Bailey and Stephanie Berg; and by seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Nausley was preceded in death by his parents, and one great-grandson, Ryan Andrew Rendleman.

Funeral services were held on Friday at Faith United Methodist Church in Vergennes with Rev. In-Sook Hwang officiating. Burial took place at Parrish Cemetery also in Vergennes. Special services were held by the Masonic Services on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church.

NAUSLEY, Gladys

Born in Vergennes Twp. to Richard and Mary Tuthill Doty. Married Freeman Nausley on Oct. 27, 1912 in Vergennes. Member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Vergennes. She died at the Jackson County Nursing Home in Murphysboro. Survivors a son, Richard of Vergennes; 3 grand-daughters, Nina Pippin, Marathon, Fla., Sandra Rendleman of Murphysboro and Rita Todd of Kirkwood, Mo.; 5 great-grandchildren and one niece Hazel Prost of Murphysboro. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1973.

Hazel E. Nausley

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Vergennes, with burial in the Parrish Cemetery in Vergennes, for Hazel E. Nausley who died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1981, in Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, after a short illness.

Mrs. Nausley was a sales clerk at the Ben Franklin Store in Murphysboro, and a member of the Retail Clerks Union of Murphysboro. She also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, the De Soto Chapter.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Vergennes.

She was born in Jackson County to Flem A. and Cora Cornett Shupe on Dec. 17, 1919.

She married Richard Nausley on Jan. 1, 1939, in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Survivors include her husband, Richard, of Vergennes; three daughters, Nina Pippin of Marathon, Fla., Sandra Rendleman of Murphysboro, and Rita Todd of Chesterfield, Mo.; five grandchildren; one brother, Horace Shupe of Vergennes; two sisters, Grace Heape of Vergennes and Bettye Doerr of Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.

Friends may call at the Wilson Funeral Home in Ava from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, and at the Faith Methodist Church in Vergennes from noon until the hour of service Thursday.

NORRIS, CLYDE H., passed away on Mon. Sept. 27, 1999, on his 81st birthday; dear son of the late Minnie and W.H. Norris; dear brother of Dorothy Hill, Frank, Warren, and the late Charles, Paul, and Howard Norris; friend of Clifford Burns and family; dear uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and friend to many.

Mr. Norris was a long-time member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club.

HENRY NORRIS BURIAL SUNDAY
Retired McPac and Terminal Engineer
Member Local Family

The funeral for Henry Norris, member of a well-known DeSoto family, was Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in a chapel of Dietrich Funeral Home. Officiating was the Rev. Howard Copeland, pastor of First Methodist Church. Burial was in Woodlawn.

William Henry Norris, who would have been 80 October 12, was born in 1885 at DeSoto. His parents were Jerry and Zoazelena (Marrah) Norris. He was a retired engineer for the Missouri Pacific and Terminal railroads.

Mr. Norris had resided about six years at the home of a sister, Mrs. Jessie Zenser, 603 Fulcom Road, until entering Mountain View Convalescent Home, Festus, three weeks ago. His death occurred there Oct. 1.

Surviving, besides his sister, are seven children; Howard, Paul, Warren, Clyde, Charles, Frank and Dorothy, all of the St. Louis area.

Nieces and nephews include Mrs. Gerald Johnston, Mrs. Blanche Goodwin, Jimmy and William Norris, all of DeSoto.

Mrs. Zenser is the remaining member of the Norris family of 12 children. Their father, Jeremiah, was a stonemason, who worked on St. Rose of Lima Church, the former Congregational Church, now United Church of Christ, and the Fourth Street Methodist Church, which burned about 12 years ago.

Ruby B. Nye

Ruby B. (Rench) Nye, 82, of 10 Clay St., died Saturday in Provincial House in Battle Creek, where she had been a patient for one day. She had been ill three weeks.

She was born in Joppa and moved to Battle Creek after graduating from Union City High School. She was one of the first residents of Cherry Hill Manor when it opened in 1970.

Surviving are daughters, Yvonne J. Miller of Marshall and Maxine H. Schmitzer of Battle Creek; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, Max G. Nye, died in 1928.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday inthe chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Farley-Estes Funeral Home.
