WILLIS EDWARD GATES

Private inurnment was held for Willis Edward Gates at Sunnyside Cemetery, Coupeville, on Saturday, October 25, 1986. Arrangements were under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.

Willis Edward Gates was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 20, 1916. He died at Whidbey General Hospital, Coupeville, on October 22, 1986 following a short illness.

Mr. Gates had been employed with the Boeing Company as an Aeronautical Engineer for over 15 years retiring in 1976.

He moved to the Coupeville area in 1982 from Sequim, WA.

Mr. Gates is survived by his wife, Marjorie Gates of Coupeville; one son, Thomas Gates of Redmond, WA; one daughter, Patricia Gates of Rochester, Minnesota; one step-son, Peter Lloyd of Akron, Ohio; one step-daughter, Mrs. Anita Glovinozzo of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and five step grand children. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Wanda Adams of Sun City, CA.

Remembrances may be made to United Way.

CLAUDE GRAHAM

Claude Graham, 73, of Wayne Center Road, Rose, died Saturday, March 13, 1971, in Newark-Wayne Community Hospital where he had been a patient for three weeks.

A retired farmer, he was born July 23, 1897. He was a 50-year member of the Rose Grange.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred, of Rose; one daughter, Jane Graham of Phelps; two sons, Alfred of Valrico, Fla and Howard of North Rose; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Paul of Batavia; and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Duyne of Newark.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Farnsworth and Son Chapel, North Rose. Rev. Ira Owen of South Butler officiated. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery.

MRS. GRACE R. GRAHAM

CLYDE -- Mrs. Grace R. Graham, 85, widow of Alfred Graham, died early Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret VanDyne of Phelps RD.

Mrs. Graham was born March 8, 1875 in Conquest, the daughter of Andrew and Louisa Stoddard, and lived on a farm near South Butler most of her life. She was a member of the Spring Lake Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret VanDyne of Phelps RD and Mrs. Genevieve Pitts of Newark; three sons, Claude Graham of Clyde RD 1, Walter Graham of Savannah and Paul Graham of Batavia; one brother, Andrew Stoddard; 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at the Kenneth E. Lundy Funeral Home, 48 Sodus St., Clyde, today and Wednesday afternoon and evening at their convenience. A service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Earl Smith, pastor of the Spring Lake Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.

PAUL J. GRAHAM

Paul J. Graham, 74, of 3094 West Main St. Rd. died at 12:30 a.m. today (Jan. 29, 1983) at Genesee Memorial Hospital. He had been in ill health for three years.

Born June 7, 1908, he was a son of Alfred and Grace Stoddard Graham. A Dairy Farmer for 35 years, he was employed until two years ago at Bowman Harloff Farms.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Griffin Graham; three sons, William of Brockport, Albert of 263 State St. and Nelson of Route 98, Elba; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Evelyn) Russell of 8661 Read Rd., East Pembroke and Mrs. William (Carolyn) Epps of Hilton; a sister, Margaret VanDuyne of Newark; 23 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Gilmartin Funeral Home Inc., where services will be at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, East Pembroke. Memorials may be made to the family.

WALTER A. GRAHAM

Savannah -- Funeral services for Walter A. Graham, 68, of Savannah, who died Wednesday, at Barber Hospital, Lyons, after a long illness, will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Becker Funeral Home, Red Creek. Burial will be in Spring Lake Cemetery, Port Byron.

Friends may call at the funeral home this afternoon and evening.

Mr. Graham was a lifelong resident of the Town of Butler and had been a Farmer.

Survivors are his wife, Jennie, of Savannah; a son, Leon of Cato; two brothers, Claude of Rose and Paul of Batavia and a sister, Mrs. Margaret VanDuyne of Newark.

HAROLD GRANISH SR,; H-J PRESSMAN

Harold Granish Sr., 78, of 301 Ridgewood Drive, died this morning at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness.

He was a native of Cortland and had resided in Syracues for 70 years.

Mr. Granish retired in 1966 from the Syracuse Herald-Journal, where he had been a Pressman for almost 50 years. He joined the newspaper on a part-time basis in 1918 and became a full time apprentice pressman in 1922.

Mr. Granish was treasurer of the International Association of Printing Pressmen and was secretary-treasurer of the Allied Printing Pressmen Trade Association.

Surviving are two sons, Harold Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., and Richard C. of Reno, Nev.; two daughters, Mrs. J. Allan Thornquist of DeWitt and Mrs. Clifford H. Schaefer of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Leona Bachman of Syracuse; a brother, Raymond of Rochester; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Welter Funeral Home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

MRS. HAROLD GRANISH

Services for Mrs. Marjorie I. Granish, 75, of 301 Ridgewood Drive, who died Monday at a local nursing home after a long illness, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Welter Funeral Home, 2649 James St. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt.

A life resident of Syracuse, Mrs. Granish was a member of the Women's Benefit Association.

Surviving are her husband, Harold; two daughters, Mrs. J. Allan Thornquist of DeWitt and Mrs. Clifford Schaefer of Clearwater, Fla.; two sons, Harold Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., and Richard C. of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Mrs. Donald Filer of Sanborn and Mrs. Margaret MacDonald of Buffalo; a brother, Earle Stoddard of East Syracuse; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and tomorrow at the Funeral Home.

MRS. MABLE GRAY

Mrs. Mable I. Gray, 92, of Lake City passed away Friday morning at Lakeview Manor in Cadillac, after several years illness.

She was born February 17, 1884 in Kent County, Michigan. She came to Missaukee County in the early 1900's. The former Mable Force married James Gray in 1905 in Lake City. She had lived in Star City, Merritt, and Lake City. Mr. Gray passed away in 1952.

She was a member of the Lake City Presbyterian Church and a former member of Grange Mail carrier Auxillary.

She is survived by one son, Oramel of LeRoy, 5 daughters, Mrs. Howard (Margaret) Miller of Lake City, Mrs. Leland (Marian) Long of St. Helen's, Mrs. Rosalyn Schuller, of Roseville, 2 brothers, Lawrence Force and Lee Force, both of Battle Creek, 27 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 5 at the Young Funeral Home with Rev. Brendon Baas officiating. Burial was in Lake City Cemetery.

ORAMEL J. GRAY

Reed City -- Oramel J. Gray, 77, of Reed City died Wednesday, May 31 at his home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1911 in Missaukee County to James and Mable (Force) Gray. He attended school in Lake City and was married May 19, 1934 in Cadillac to Emily Briggs who preceded him in death Nov. 12, 1985.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Arlon (Orma) Parmelee of Reed City and two sons, Samuel and wife Margaret of Grand Rapids, Gary and wife Carla of Reed City; five sisters, Margaret Miller of Cadillac, Bessie Behnke of Lake City, Mrs. Leland (Marian) Long of Montrose, Colorado, Bonnie (Smith) Jenison and Rosalyn Schuller of Mt. Clemens; 10 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

He lived in Merritt before coming to Reed City in 1945. He and his wife owned and operated Gray's Country Store in Ashton from 1960 - 1976.

He was a member of Reed City United Methodist Church, life member and past master of Lou B. Winsor Lodge #363 F & AM, 32nd degree mason and member of the Scottish Rite of Grand Rapids, honorary member of the Luther Masonic Lodge and a member of Reed City Chapter #265 Order of the Eastern Star.

Funeral Services were Saturday, June 3, 11 a.m. at Reed City United Methodist Church with Rev. Allen McCreedy and Rev. Douglas Kokx officiating. Burial was in Lake City Cemetery.

There was a Masonic Memorial Service at McDowell Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may go to Lou B. Winsor Lodge #363.

GUILIANI, LELA

On Saturday, April 1, 1989, of Temple Hills, Md., wife of the late Julius Caesar Guiliani; beloved mother of June Howe, Barbara Campbell and Carole Gerard; sister of Ann Batson, Lois Yeager, Gerry Dauer, Pauline Hoover and Margie Robinson. Also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, at The Robert E. Grace Elnor Guthrie

Grace Elnor Guthrie, 73, of Mt. Pleasant died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1981 at Central Michigan Community Hospital in Mt. Pleasant.

Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Stinson-Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. David A. Wood presiding. Burial will be at Richland Township Cemetery in Vestaburg.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 3:30 to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Michigan Heart Association or the First Baptist Church of Vestaburg.

Surviving are her husband, Richard of Mt. Pleasant, six sons, Lyle of Florida, Roy of Beal City, Homer of Oil City, Clare of Mt. Pleasant, Arthur of Shepard and Dwane of Winn; three daughters, Mrs. David (Catherine) Wood of Concord, Mrs. Roger (Vera Jean) Ergang of Comstock Park and Betty, living at home; one sister, Marie Bloss of Alma; two brothers, Burgess of Harrietta and George of Edmore; 30 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Larry Leroy Guthrie
Oct. 10, 1949 - Oct. 15, 2005

Larry Leroy Guthrie, age 56 of Shepherd, left this world to await his place in the Kingdom of Heaven. Larry passed away Saturday, October 15 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint after complications due to an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 19 at 1:00 p.m. from the Berry Funeral Home with Gene Beavers officiating. Cremation will follow services with burial of ashes in Richard Twp. Cemetery in Vestaburg. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 18 from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Berry Funeral Home.

Larry was born on October 10, 1949 to Lavada Precious (Carl) and Robert Leroy Guthrie in Edmore. He enjoyed everything to do with trucks and recently retired from OTR Truck Driving. He was an avid dancer and was a very outgoing and boisterous man.

He will be sadly missed by many friends and family including his mother Lavada Vaughn of Shepherd and 2 sons; Joshua Guthrie of Nashville and Louis (Jennifer) Holliday of Shepherd and adopted son Michael Haven of Ohio and adopted daughter Shelley Guthrie; 4 grandchildren, Melissa, Timothy, Athena and Noah Holliday all of Shepherd and Preston and Ryan Havens of Detroit; two sisters Cinda (Tom) Pastor of Battle Creek and Carla (Steve) Benjamin of Cadillac; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert and Step-father Floyd Vaughn.

Memorials may be given to the Juvenile Diabetics Foundation.

Guthrie, Lyle R., 68, of Valrico, died Saturday (June 24, 1995) in Brandon. He was born in Lyons, Mich., and came to the area in 1969. He was a member of the Mango Church of God. Survivors include two sons, Carlyle, Valrico, and Gregory, Tampa, a daughter, Connie J Guthrie, Valrico, five brothers, Roy, Homer, Clare, Arthur and Duane, all of Michigan, three sisters, Vera Ergang and Catherine Wood, both of Michigan, and Betty Guthrie of Mexico, and four grandchildren. Garden of Memories Funeral Home, Tampa.

Richard William Guthrie

Richard William Guthrie, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, beloved father and grandfather and active Christian, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 3, 1995.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. David Wood officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery in Vestaburg.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the organization of the donor's choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Mr. Guthrie was born March 4, 1903, in Richland Township, Montcalm County, to George W. and Cora (Outman) Guthrie. He married Grace Dalrymple on April 12, 1925.

He moved to Isabella County in 1935. Mr. Guthrie was a farmer who spent his entire life farming in Isabella County. He retired in 1985. Mr. Guthrie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vestaburg.

He is survived by nine children, Lyle Guthrie of Brandon, Fla., Roy Guthrie and his wife Saide of Mt. Pleasant, Homer Guthrie and his wife Ellene of Shepherd, Clare Guthrie and his wife June of Mt. Pleasant, Arthur Guthrie and his wife Ruth of Shepherd, Dwane Guthrie and his wife Penny of Mt. Pleasant, Catherine Wood and her husband David of Concord, Vera Jean Ergang and her husband Roger of Comstock Park, and Betty Guthrie, who is a missionary in Mexico; 42 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Grace in 1981; a son, Robert, in 1958; and his second wife, Zelma Taft.

GUTHRIE -- Robert LeRoy Guthrie, 1342 W. Knickerbocker, age 32, died Monday, Jan. 20, 1958, at Hurley Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 1958, from the Austin Ave. Baptist Church, Austin Ave. and N. Saginaw. Mr. Guthrie will remain at the Reigle Funeral Home, 2417 N. Saginaw St. until 8:30 a.m. Friday, then will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of service.

ROY JUNIOR GUTHRIE
Sept. 2, 1928 - Dec. 17, 1996

Roy Junior Guthrie, 68, of Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 1996 in Leesburg, Fla. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Weidman United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Lawrence and Pastor Daniel Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Payne Cemetery in Fulton Township. Friends may call today from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Helms Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Weidman United Methodist Church or the Community Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the Helms Funeral Home.

Mr. Guthrie was born Sept. 2, 1928 in Montcalm County, the son of William Richard and Grace (Dalrymple) Guthrie. He marrid Sadie Husted in Maple Rapids on Aug. 11, 1972.

He was a lifelong resident of the Vestaburg, Winn and Mt. Pleasant areas. He worked at Dow Chemical for 28 years and also drove a truck for Art Tilmann before retiring in 1985. Mr. Guthrie served in the United States Army during the Korean War from Oct. 1952 until Oct. 1954. He was also a member of the Weidman United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau and Senior Citizens of Beal City.

Mr. Guthrie is survived by his wife, Sadie A. Guthrie of Mt. Pleasant; children, Rick (Sandi) Guthrie of Oil City, Julie (Joe) Schafer of Weidman, Lynn Breuer of Beal City, Laura (Marion) Yats of Beaverton, Darla Silkwood of Harrison, Daniel (Susan) Cook of Mt. Pleasant, Rebecca (Pastor Daniel) Simmons of Elyria, Ohio, Debra (Bill) Ogle of Alma, Marcie Emmons of Williamson, Betty (Junious) Caldwell of Sears and Sandra Cook of Garden City; 25 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brothers, Homer (Elenne) Guthrie of Shepherd, Clare (June) Guthrie of Mt. Pleasant, Arthur (Ruth) Guthrie of Shepherd, Dwane (Penny) Guthrie; sisters Catherine (David) Wood of Concord, Vera Jean (Roger) Ergang of Comstock Park and Betty Guthrie of Mt. Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by both parents; and two brothers, Robert and Lyle.
