General Report of the Secretary for year 1912-1913

The Second Outman Reunion met at DeSota, Mo., Oct. 4, 1912, and were guests of James Love Outman and family, Mrs. Carrie Rudd, Henry Norris and family and Mr. and Mrs. Amos Stroup.

As at the first reunion the time was spent visiting, feasting and a general good time. Fifty-five descendants of Jeremiah Outman were in attendance. Most of those attended the Sat. evening performance at the Jefferson Theatre--and the Methodist Church on Sunday morning.

On Sunday p.m. a group picture was taken. Ten of the "cousins" who were in attendance are not in the photo, as they were obliged to take a home-ward-bound train before the artist arrived.

All efforts made during the year to locate descendants of Rachael and Abigail Outman have been fruitless. Correspondence with two or three Chislers fail to give us any clue to them.

The following is an extract from a letter from W. H. Outman of Westfield, Pa., under date of Oct. 4, 1912: "My father says that his father (Stephen Outman) called him to his bedside about two weeks before his death and said that the name Outman was not our right name, that our correct name was Utterman. He said that he and his brothers got together one time and agreed to change the name to some name of two syllables, and after a time decided on Ottman, but later selected the name Outman as we have it."
