CLYDE EDWIN OUTMAN

Born 3 June 1896 Valles Mines, MO
Died 31 May 1977 Veterans Hospital, Jefferson Barracks, MO
Buried S.S. Peter and Paul Cemetery, S. St. Louis, MO

Clyde spent the first 8 years of his life in Valles Mines. In 1904 the family moved to DeSoto. When Clyde was seventeen, he and his older brother Leonard left home and went to work for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company in Festus, MO. Clyde and Leonard stayed with Mrs. Edmonds and became part of their family. There he stayed until he entered the Army in 1916 or 1917. He was ready to go over seas when World War I ended.

Sometime before 1924 he married Hazel Wilcox. From this marriage one child was born, Norma Lee "Skip" Outman. This marriage ended in divorce and in September 1936 he married Kathryn Hager, to whom he was married till his death.

After the war, his employment ran in the Automotive Line. Clyde was a Salesman for an auto parts company and traveled a lot. He was in the Filling Station Business several times. One time with his cousin Gus Outman, another time with his brother Leonard.

Clyde's hobbies were fishing, bowling and gardening. Of the three, gardening was his favorite. I can still taste those blackberries he raised while living on Denny Road. Aunt Katie made the most delicious Black Berry Cobbler and saved the last jar for me when I came to St. Louis.

Most of the trips Kathryn and Clyde took were to Hot Springs, Ark. Others were to Wisconsin and to Denver, Co. for the wedding of Martha Lee's daughter, Shaaron Anne.

Clyde lived part of the time with his sister Ethel after his marriage ended and sometimes he would stay with his brother Francis.

Clyde was the apple of his sister's eye, he could do no wrong. He was loved by all and was a very special person.
