The following article appeared in the November 21, 1923 edition of the The Wellsboro Gazette newspaper, Wellsboro, PA.

Items from Bethel Orphanage.

The children of Bethel Orphanage enjoyed a visit from Rev. D. M. Metcalf, pastor of the Baptist church of Addison. They enjoyed several new games which he taught them.

We wish to thank the Ladies' Aid Society of Roundtop for the generous offering received from them a few days ago. We greatly appreciate their continued interest in this work and the kiddies here.

A new Overland truck has been purchased for the Home of O. H. Evans, of Wellsboro. This was greatly needed as the old car was worn out, and there is so much carting, hauling, etc., to be done at the orphanage. We are sure that Santa Claus will remember us on his trip this year and leave us some checks which will lessen the debt for the car. The children also enjoyed a visit from Mr. Evans recently. We appreciate his interest in the kiddies.

The annual business meeting of the directors of Bethel Orphanage was held at the Home Nov. 13. Officers were elected as follows: F. E. Bean, of Knoxville, President; W. B. Leete, of Addison, Vice-President; Mrs. J. K. Outman, Secretary; J. K. Outman, Treasurer; Board of Directors, S. Y. Doumaux, of Wellsboro; A. H. Vosburg, of Mansfield; Claude Wilson, of East Campbell, N. Y.; J. L. Sheen, of Knoxville; J. D. Hartman, of Osceola, and the officers.

The children are planning to write letters to Santa Claus again this year. He brought many things last year.

Our children are busily counting the days until Christmas. To many this will be their first real Christmas and it makes us happy to know that so many friends are busy planning to make it a real Christmas indeed. The children are now busy decorating their playroom for Thanksgiving day.

We want to thank every one from whom we are receiving offerings from time to time for the boys' new dormitory, which we hope to be able to build in the spring. We are greatly encouraged by the interest which the people of Tioga county are showing in their county orphanage.
