The following article appeared in the July 19, 1922 edition of the The Agitator newspaper, Wellsboro, PA:

Bethel Orphanage Notes.

Callers at the Home recently were: Mrs. Myrtle Plumley and Mrs. Fay Chappel, of Crookedcreek; Mrs. Arch Stevenson, Miss Gertrude King, Miss Leah Havens, of Westfield; Dr. and Mrs. E. C. Larsen, of Wellsboro; Pastor Ella Moon, Miss Hannah Middleton, of Knoxville; D. D. Chapin, Jr. and wife, of Brooklyn, N. Y.; Curtis Wilson, Wilbert Wilson, Miss Aura Blanchard, of Rochester; T. J. Keegan, of Montour Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Emery Dunbar, of Elmira; Miss Phoebe Smith, Miss Elizabeth Howe, Mrs. Lena Howe and son, John, Pastor H. Ramey and wife, of Osceola.

Miss Grace Risler, Mrs. Martha Carman and a few of the children from the Orphanage spent a day recently with Mrs. Moon at Knoxville and had a very enjoyable time.

Mrs. Martha Carman spent her vacation last week with friends in Mansfield. Miss Risler visited her parents in Elmira, recently.

The children of Bethel Orphanage spent a very happy 'July 4' at a picnic at Gravel Bank. Chas. Wells took the children on his large farm wagon. They enjoyed the picnic and also the many games that were played. Frequently on nice warm days, we all go out under the large maples and have our lunch. The children, of course, think this is great fun and a meal out there always tastes much better to them.

Last month we received twelve new nighties from the Ladies' Sewing Circle, of East Campbell, N. Y. We have lately received two boxes of children's clothing, a wool quilt from Gravel Bank and several jars of preserves and jelly from Addison.

Last Wednesday, Mr. Outman took eight more of the children over to Addison and Dr. Striker, the dentist, spent another day working on their teeth. The children all ate their lunch in a nearby park. The children think a lot of Dr. Striker and always come home with candy and toys. They count the days till it will be their turn to go to the dentist. Recently two auto loads of children went to Addison and held an Orphanage service. A large truck was run up on the Main street. The children stood up on this and sang many of their songs while Miss Risler accompanied them with her guitar. They also repeated scripture.

An attorney of Addison then made a plea for the work and several hats were passed through the crowd. We were very grateful for the offering received. The children were treated to ice cream, candy, and peanuts by several Addison people.
