The annual business meeting and election of officers of Bethel Orphanage at Osceola was held at the Orphanage Oct. 15. F. J. THE BETHEL ORPHANAGE
The children of the Bethel Orphanage at Osceola will sing next Saturday evening at 8 o'clock on the public square. This entertainment will be given for the purpose of letting the public know of the excellent work done at this orphanage.
The institution is in charge of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Outman. Since the home opened August 17, 1917, over seventy children have been under its care. About thirty children are now living in the home. It was founded strictly for destitute children and does not take children to board other than those from the County Home.
The children range in age from a baby of a few months to fifteen or sixteen years. All children of school age are sent to the local schools. The life at the orphanage is more like that in an ordinary home with a large family than it is like an institution. Aside from the help of the older children about the "farm", the orphanage is maintained entirely by voluntary contributions.
Come and hear the children sing.

The Wellsboro Agitator, October 25, 1922 Wellsboro, Pennsylvania:

Bethel Orphanage Notes.
Mr. and Mrs. Outman, Miss Grace Risler and some of the children from Bethel Orphanage, spent Sunday at Harrison Valley with relatives of Mrs. Outman.
A little two-year-old girl was placed with a family in Painted Post, N. Y., last Saturday. A girl 9 years old was also placed with a family in Andover, N. Y., last week. We have at present 27 children in the Home.
For the past five years, Mr. Outman has been laboring under difficulties to care for his small farm stock, which consists of two cows, a calf and a pig, for he has had to rent a barn down across town every winter. He has recently been considering a plot of ground across the street from the Orphanage, where a barn could be erected. Last week, when considering the purchase of this property with Frank Seeley, of Osceola, it's owner, we were very agreeably surprised when Mr. and Mrs. Seeley presented the deed to the lot to Bethel Orphanage. We greatly appreciate this present which shows to us their interest in our work. We hope to soon have a barn built where we can more easily care for the stock.

OSCEOLA OCCURENCES.
Robert Bloom Injured By Fall -- Personals and Other News From That Vicinity.

One day last week Mr. and Mrs. Outman, of the Bethel Orphanage went near Mansfield to get Robert Bloom, who was taken from the home about three months ago by a party who wished to adopt a boy for their own. We are all heart broken to see Robert in his condition, he went away a healthy, strong boy and came back much the worse. His health is broken down by hard work. About three weeks before his return he had the misfortune to fall from the hay barn and struck on the wagon, injuring him seriously, but no notice was taken and he was kept at work, he at last became unable to do any more work and Mr. Outman was notified and Robert was taken to the Blossburg hospital and an X-Ray found the bones of his hip and knee badly fractured at the time of the fall and no attention being given a large tumor had formed around the bone. It is feared he will loose his leg. He was taken back Saturday for another X-Ray, but he is in such a rundown condition that his parents are in doubt about having an operation, until he can be built up.

THE LATEST NEWS FROM ELKLAND.
Items of Interest Gathered by Our Reporter.

The children of the Bethel Orphanage, of Osceola, will give a sacred cantata, "The Rose of Bethlehem," in Parkhurst hall next Thursday evening, Dec. 27. Twenty children will take part. No admission will be charged, but a free offering will be taken. It is hoped that there will be a large attendance of the people of Elkland, Osceola and Nelson. There is no better way to manifest the Christmas spirit than to help these little ones and encourage Mr. and Mrs. Outman, who with the assistant matron, Miss Grace Risler, have the great responsibility of caring for these children. Too much cannot be said of this most commendable work -- taking the children from the very lowest places of life and training them to be Christian men and women who in time will take part in the world's activities. Since the state appropriation was taken from the orphanage, there is more need of outside help, and it is hoped that the people of this vicinity, in their homes of plenty and at this time, the Christmas season, the day which we hold sacred in memory of the time when the Greatest of All Gifts was given to us, will not forget the orphans, who will have no happy Christmas unless we divide our good things with them.

Bethel Orphanage Notes.

Osceola, March 12 -- Mrs. E. M. Wright of Addison, N. Y., is coming over again soon to help the children with singing. The children enjoy her visits very much and her instruction in singing proves very helpful.
We recently received ten dollars from the Tiadaghton public school at Tiadaghton. This money, the teacher stated, was raised at a school party and it was decided by several who had seen the Christmas Cantata presented at Wellsboro that the money should be sent to this Home. We appreciate the interest shown in this Orphanage by the Tiadaghton School.
Mrs. J. K. Outman, Matron, is at the Blossburg hospital where she underwent a serious operation on March 5th.

Items from the Bethel Orphanage.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bullock of Knoxville, have donated a dining table to the Orphanage. This was greatly needed and surely appreciated. Eleanor Smith, of Wellsboro, sent a beautiful doll to the kiddies at the Orphanage.
We received a generous offering to help towards buying the new farm from Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Cady of Fonda, N. Y., formerly of Knoxville. This was greatly appreciated and it was the first offering which we have received for that purpose.
The Ladies Aid of Round Top who have done so much for the kiddies here recently sent two quilts. We have appreciated the eggs which Henry Smith, of Farmington Hill, has donated.
Mrs. Frances Tubbs of Osceola treated the children to oranges last week.
We have been very grateful for the help which Mrs. Wesley Crandall and Mrs. Willmine Elliott have been giving with the Orphanage mending.
We would be very glad if any one who has some hay for the Orphanage cows would kindly let us know.
Mrs. J. K. Outman, Matron of the Bethel Orphanage, who has been at the Blossburg hospital where she underwent an operation for appendicitis three weeks ago is expected to come home soon.

COUNTY MOVES TO SAVE ORPHANS HOME FROM FORECLOSURE

Support of Wellsboro people to the extent of $3000 was pledged Friday night when leading citizens from representative Tioga County towns met at the Penn-Wells on invitation of C. E.
